Upcoming Grant Deadlines

BIL/IIJA and IRA grant application deadlines as of 2/23/23

  1. RAISE program (BIL)
    • Due Date: February 28, 2023
    • Eligible entities: States, Tribal, and local governments, and transit agencies
    • Climate-aligned eligible projects: Projects that build new, extend existing of, or enhance service capability of public transit systems. These grants can be transformational for underserved communities or less accessible corridors. Public transit - from rail to bus - has the greatest potential for long-term emissions reductions, supporting local revitalization and redevelopment, and encouraging mode-shifting from private vehicles to shared mobility. For greatest impact, consider multi-modal projects that include complete streets, new trails or extend existing trails, and enhanced or new connections with transit hubs.
  2. Federal-State Partnership for Intercity Passenger Rail Grant Program – National and Northeast (BIL)
    • Due Date: March 7, 2023 for National, March 27, 2023 for Northeast
    • Eligible entities: State and Tribal governments
    • Climate-aligned eligible projects: Projects that (a) replace, rehabilitate, or repair infrastructure, equipment, or a facility used for providing intercity passenger rail service to bring such assets into a state of good repair, (b) improve intercity passenger rail service performance, (c) expand or establish new intercity passenger rail service or (d) planning for any of the projects described above
  3. Enhanced Geothermal Systems Pilot Letter of intent (BIL)
    • Due Date: March 8, 2023
    • Eligible entities: higher ed, for-profit, non-profit entities, state, local, and Tribal governments
    • Climate-aligned eligible projects: pilot projects that collectively demonstrate EGS in different geologic settings, using a variety of development techniques and well orientations, at sites where subsurface characterization or geothermal energy integration analysis has been conducted. These pilot demonstration projects will enable investments that maintain progress towards GTO’s aggressive GeoVision4 and Enhanced Geothermal Systems Energy Earthshot goal
  4. Areas of Persistent Poverty Program (BIL)
    • Due Date: March 10, 2023
    • Eligible entities: State, Tribal, local governments, public housing authorities, for profit organizations, partnerships with non-profits. Located in area of persistent poverty.
    • Climate-aligned eligible projects: transit projects that improve access to transit in historically disadvantaged communities. Planning and environmental studies are eligible.
    • Informational webinars Feb 7, 9, 15

  5. Advanced Energy Manufacturing and Recycling Grants (BIL)
    • Due Date: March 14, 2023
    • Eligible entities: Manufacturing firms
    • Climate-aligned eligible projects: Grants for small- and medium-sized manufacturers to enable them to build new or retrofit existing manufacturing and industrial facilities to produce or recycle advanced energy products in communities where coal mines or coal power plants have closed.
  6. Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem-Solving (EJCPS) Cooperative Agreement Program (IRA)
    • Due date: April 10, 2023
    • Eligible entities: Community-based nonprofit organizations or a partnership of community-based nonprofit organizations
    • Climate-aligned eligible projects: Pollution monitoring, prevention, and remediation, and investments in low- or zero-emission technologies that help reduce GHG emissions. Climate mitigation and adaptation. Workforce development for these areas. Facilitating public engagement of disadvantaged communities in local, state, and federal public processes.
    • Informational webinar Jan 24

  8. Port Infrastructure Development Program (BIL)
    • Due Date: April 28, 2023
    • Eligible entities: State and Tribal governments
    • Climate-aligned eligible projects: PIDP grants can improve port infrastructure, including intermodal connections, or reduce or eliminate pollutants and greenhouse gas emission. This program focuses on infrastructure enhancements that directly impact port operations. Consider projects that support freight and port vehicle fleet electrification, port resiliency with battery storage, and major efficiency retrofits to reduce the energy intensity of port operations.
  9. Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program Formula Grant pre-award sheet (BIL)
    • Due Date: April 28, 2023
    • Eligible entities: State, local, and Tribal governments
    • Climate-aligned eligible projects: Projects that develop, promote, implement, and manage energy efficiency and conservation, including clean energy. These may be more complex, but can often extend the impact - bill savings and energy savings were at least 2X higher in the original EECBG program than other efforts when EECBG funds were utilized for more ambitious and/or "complex" financial incentive programs.
