Upcoming Grant Deadlines

Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) grant application deadlines as of 8/31/23.

  1. Materials, Operations, and Recycling of Photovoltaics (BIL)
    • Due Date: LOI by September 6, 2023, and a concept paper by September 13, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: State and local governments, Tribal nations, for-profit entities, non-profits, and higher education
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Research and development projects to create innovative and practical approaches to increase the reuse and recycling of solar energy technologies.
  2. USDA Empowering Rural America (New ERA) program (IRA)
    • Due Date: September 15, 2023
    • Eligible entities: Member-owned electric co-ops
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Flexible funding to make energy efficiency improvements to eligible generation and transmission systems; to purchase, build, or deploy renewable energy, zero-emission systems, and carbon capture storage systems; or to purchase renewable energy.  
  3. Tribal Electrification Program (IRA) 
    • Due Date: September 18, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: Tribes
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Projects that provide zero-emission electricity to households and that prioritize equity.
  4. Solar for All (IRA)
    • Due Date: September 26, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: State and local governments, Tribal nations, and eligible non-profit entities
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Projects that will enhance access to residential solar in low-income and disadvantaged communities. 
  5. Silicon Solar Manufacturing, and Dual-Use Photovoltaic Incubator (BIL)
    • Due Date: Concept papers are due September 27, 2023. Full applications are due November 14, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: For-profit entities as the prime recipient, higher ed, for-profit entities, non-profit entities, state and local governments, and Tribal nations as sub-recipients 
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Projects that accelerate the development of domestic silicon solar manufacturing. Projects that demonstrate dual uses of solar, such as agrivoltaics.
  6. Rural and Tribal Assistance Pilot Program (BIL)
    • Due Date: September 28, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: State and local governments and Tribal nations
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Improve the organizational capacity of communities that may not have available resources to evaluate and develop infrastructure projects that qualify for federal funding and financing.
  7. Reconnecting Communities (BIL) and Neighborhood Grant Program (IRA)
    • Due Date: September 28, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: State, and local governments, Tribal nations, facility owners, non-profits, and higher education institutions in partnership
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: The Reconnecting Communities Pilot program and the Neighborhood Access and Equity Program are being combined into one application. Entities should put forward projects that meet both requirements to be considered for both. Both programs can fund projects that improve transportation for disadvantaged communities, including safe and affordable transportation. 
  8. USDA Powering Affordable Clean Energy (PACE) program (IRA)
    • Due Date: September 29, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: States, corporations, municipalities, utility districts, non-profits, cooperatives, and others that generate electricity for resale to residents with at least 50% of the population served in communities with populations of 20,000 or fewer
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Projects that make clean energy more affordable for rural Americans. 
  9. Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Technical Assistance (BIL)
    • Due Date: September 29, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: Higher education, non-profits
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Technical assistance for environmental justice projects in EPA Region 1 (Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and 10 federally recognized Tribes).
  10. State-Based Home Energy Efficiency Contractor Training (IRA)
    • Due Date: September 30, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: States and territories
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Projects that develop and implement a state workforce energy program that prepares workers to deliver energy efficiency, electrification, and clean energy improvements.
  11. Recompete Pilot Program (CHIPS)
    • Due Date: October 5, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: State and local governments, Tribal nations, and economic development districts
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Economic development in economically distressed communities. 
  12. Pilot Program for Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Planning 
    • Due Date: October 10, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: FTA Grantee projects sponsors or entity with planning authority
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Transportation projects that improve ridership potential, foster multimodal connectivity and accessibility, improve transit access for pedestrian and bicycle traffic, and enable mixed-use development near transit stations
  13. Tribal Climate Resilience Annual Awards Program (BIL, IRA)
    • Due Date: October 13, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: Federally Recognized Tribes
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Planning and implementation for projects that improve climate resilience for tribal communities. 
  14. Consumer Electronics Battery Recycling, Reprocessing, and Battery Collection (BIL)
    • Due Date: November 29, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: Individuals, higher education, for-profit and non-profit entities, state and local government entities, and Tribal nations
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Support the recycling of consumer electronics batteries and battery-containing devices to bolster the domestic critical material supply chain for EV batteries.
  15. Climate Ready Workforce (IRA)
    • Due Date: LOI by November 30, 2023
    • Eligible Entities: State and local governments, Tribal nations, non-profits, associations, and higher education
    • Climate-aligned Eligible Projects: Workforce development, training, and recruitment for good-paying jobs that enhance climate resilience.
